Archived News or something:

July 16,1998 Sorry for the lack up updates, things have been pretty slow on the programming front. Two jobs, soaking up sunshine, and softball tend to put a dampener on my free time... in the works are some rle sprite routines (I'll try to code the collsion detector tonight) and possibly even svga support.

July 7,1998 Well, we have our 1500th contestant today on the "visit Pete's Euphoria Zone" game show... Andrew Mitchell, come on down! Evil twin Pete, tell him what he's won! Andrew and guest (must wiegh less than 62.7 kilos) will be spending a lavish vacation on a one-way trip to Antartica and while he's enjoying his stay (all-expenses paid) (by him :) See the mighty emperor penguins right from your terrace... off the crater left behind by the alien mothership. But that's not all! Andy will also have a lifetime supply of sawdust... courtesy of that guy with the chainsaw for a hand on those "Evil Dead" or something movies. Um, thanks for playing!

July 2,1998 ModeX 3 is coming along nicely despite the lack of updates on this site. The big Mode X demo/tutorial will probably first appear in Stephen Spencers Diskmag (unless he can get other contributors it may well be Pete's Diskmag :) Mode X was almost lost tonight in a hard disk crash... it really sucks when your directory is suddenly reduced to 3 files (dot and doubledot were gone!) And then scandisk hung itself out to dry... I was starting to freak by then. Fortunately .chk files saved my sanity, all 700 or so of 'em. What's really weird is some of the .chk files were crosslinked... . . . . . . . now people will probably never download my stuff - "his code does WHAT to my disk?" Someday I'll have a notebook computer so I can code at the beach. Just another random thought brought to you by Lack of SleepTM.

June 25,1998 I finally have a sort-of working version of Mode X release 3. It's really easy to use now, with tons of neat features, and all 3 blits have been totally optimized using dword write alignment. Other features include: swarms of bugs I haven't found yet, and NO documentation. Enjoy!

June 23,1998 The downloads page has been fixed and now works exactly the way I wanted it to, and most parts of it should work on all browsers. :)

June 20,1998 Nevermind that note to Graeme below, for Ralf has shown a way to get around the problem. You can read his email for more details. Very cool. Now I'll have to add Graeme's feature idea to mighty.e. Done. See downloads.

June 19, 1998 Added several new features to mighty.e mouse routines available on the downloads page, including hotspots for custom cursors, enter/leave region functions, and 13 win95 default cursors. It would appear that Graeme and I are doing some parallel processing in that last department :) (note to Graeme: if you redefine pixel/getpixel, you don't have to redefine display_image/save_image. But if you redefine pixel/getpixel, you can't use Euphoria's pixel routines for anything. So that would be useful only for SVGA for example, where you write your own pixel routines anyway.)

June 16, 1998 Twenty minutes ago I found a bug in asm.e... the "test" opcode was converted wrong. The downloads page has the fixed version (be sure to snag it if you maintain an archive page). Also my Mode X lib is being optimized - so far "copy" and "clear copy" are wickedly FAST. Stay tuned for further updates. Oh, and I made it home okay, and started my summer comp. engr. internship yesterday.

June 11, 1998 Not much in the way of programming... chopped the news on this page for faster loading. Tomorrow I'm moving back home to the coast tomorrow after my last final (digital logic design). So no more school!!! More time to code!!!! Woohoo!!!

June 3,1998 Congrats go out to Einar Mogen for the coveted 1000th visitor trophy (any resemblance to an autographed Austin Powers "penis enlarger" is purely coincidental)... now where did I put it? And thanks to everyone else for playing, no purchase neccessary, void where prohibited, no returns, exchanges or refunds, Do not back up - severe tire damage, not exempt from local and state laws of physics.
